After the assessment of Madiha’s Sofa, I noticed that the fabric had pulled away from the backing which caused the top layer of the fabric to fray from the stitching. In my professional opinion, because the fabric on the Chaise side of the seating area has separated from it’s backing, this will over a short period of time, eventually come away completely.

On the recliner side of the sofa is the main cross-bar section that allows the sofa to have reclining action therefore, this area of the chair is supposed to be robust/heavy duty but upon inspection, I found that the main cross metal framework had surprisingly snapped which would indicate either that very low grade metal was used. A, serious design flaw or both.
Damage to this bar has caused the remanding section when the mechanism is operational, to be forced upwards into the seat area. This is a very serious fault and an obvious safety hazard. It’s only a matter of time under light operation before the metal bar eventually forces its way completely tearing through the fabric making the snapped metal visible. If used in this condition, the rough, sharp edge of the snapped metal can cause serious injury to adult or children.

I advised Madiha not to use the chair section of the sofa due to it being a serious safety hazard.
Conclusion
This sofa is structurally at fault.
